Gudgeon

The gudgeon is a fish that is, quite literally, overlooked. Some may find this humble little fish even mentioned as a quarry but there are a lot of anglers who hold fond memories of this delightful little creature as their very first fish (Steve included!), and it is often a welcome catch living on the gravels with its fellow dace, roach and chub. It likes the maggots and worms that often tempt others, and can often add a little colour to a pleasant day’s fishing.
