Pike

The pike is our top predator in freshwater, and very popular due to its good size, formidable looks and bursts of speed in the fight. An ambush predator pike are often found camouflaged alongside weedbeds, fallen trees or changes in underwater contours. A River Days speciality is pike fishing in Thames weir pools, where significant drops of contour into the deepest waters of the Thames are found.
